ADOPTION TERMS & AGREEMENT: Before you take home a new furry friend it is very important that we know that he/she will be loved and cared for for the rest of his/her life. In consideration for adopting from Tragic to Magic, please read and check each of the following terms below.

The above animal is being adopted solely as a pet for myself and/or immediate family. I agree that I will not sell, give away, or otherwise dispose of said animal to any person(s), shelter, dealer, retailer, auction, institute, or any other entity for any reason. I agree to contact TTM if I no longer am able to keep this dog in the future, to arrange return or placement. I will not surrender it to a shelter.

I agree to register the dog with, and obtain a dog license from the municipality where I live, or as required by law.

I hereby agree to care for the above animal in a humane and responsible manner and to provide him/her with clean and adequate shelter, proper food, fresh water, exercise, grooming, training, medication when required, and veterinary care. I further agree that said animal shall reside inside my home and shall not be allowed to roam freely.

I will provide a safe and loving home environment and will socialize the animal to humans and other animals. Dogs are not to be excessively crated (not more than a total of 4 hours in a 24 hour period).

I will provide basic training or reinforcement of proper house manners and obedience skills. This training will be done only by positive reinforcement. At no time will punishment be used as a training tool.

I understand that TTM has provided appropriate veterinary care, vaccinations as appropriate, and spay/neuter if the animal is of age. Regardless, I will introduce my new family member to my veterinarian within a month after adoption and then at least annually.

If the animal needs medical attention during the trial period, a member of TTM must be contacted immediately and must approve all vet visits in order for TTM to be financially responsible. TTM will not be financially responsible for any vet visits that are not approved.

I realize the adoption fee (as listed on desktop version of Petfinder) helps to offset medical costs incurred in the care of my adopted animal, as well as other animals in the care of TTM. The animal is adopted on a trial basis for two weeks, and may be returned (with vaccination record) for a full refund of the adoption fee within that time. Failure to pay the adoption fee in its entirety could result in TTM taking back custody of the animal. After the trial period, the fee is nonrefundable if the animal is returned.

If adopting an unaltered animal, I agree to have the animal spayed/neutered (please consult your veterinarian on timing; most vets advise doing this when the animal is four to six months old).

I hereby agree that a TTM representative may visit the animal at any time after the adoption to evaluate his/her condition and environment, and may confiscate the animal if living in unsuitable conditions, neglected, or otherwise abused. Failure to abide by this agreement is also grounds for confiscation of the animal with no refund of adoption fee.

I understand that TTM makes no representations or warranties, expressed or implied, about the animal’s health. I am aware that this animal may have been exposed to contagious or infectious disease or may have been injured prior to rescue by TTM. Despite veterinary care already provided and TTM's best efforts to ensure he/she is healthy and sound, unknown conditions may exist. TTM will in no way be responsible for any health problems that may arise after the adoption is finalized. I furthermore agree to care for the animal should he/she develop a health problem, and I understand that veterinary care can be expensive.

I understand that animals require a number of weeks to adjust to a new home, regardless of whether other animals and/or children are present. TTM recommends that adopters exercise prudence, caution, and patience when introducing an animal into a new environment. TTM is available to assist with introduction and/or any adjustment issues.

I understand that many animals are uncomfortable, even frightened, around children, so particular care will be provided if children are interacting with the adoptive animal. I accept full responsibility for all such circumstances and any problems that may occur.

I understand that TTM makes no representations or warranties, expressed or implied, about the animal’s temperament or health. I understand that other animals, people, and property in my household could be exposed to medical or behavioral conditions that have not been recognized in the animal, and TTM is not liable for any diseases, bodily injuries (of my own companion animals, other exposed animal, or people), and property damage. The adoptive owner agrees to hold TTM and any of its representatives harmless from loss and expense, including legal fees, due to placement of adopted animal.

I agree that if circumstances require the immediate return of the animal, and TTM is unable to secure emergency foster care or arrange immediate transport, I shall be responsible for payment of up to three days of professional boarding fees at TTM's designated boarding facility. This boarding fee responsibility shall apply regardless of the reason for return and must be paid at the time the animal is surrendered. TTM will make reasonable efforts to place the animal in foster care or arrange transport as quickly as possible to minimize boarding duration.

I hereby acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this adoption agreement and have signed this Agreement freely and voluntarily. As of the finalization of this adoption, I will assume full financial responsibility for the animal and will keep said animal as part of my family.
